Introducing the new Community Development Coordinator: Roxanne Rupps
The Greater Moncton Homeless Steering Committee is pleased to welcome Roxanne Rupps as its new Community Development Coordinator. She will be working hard alongside the Steering Committee and Sub-Committees towards meeting the goals of the Moncton Community Plan on addressing homelessness.
Roxanne brings to the position a background of collaboration with local non-profit organizations as well as experience in service provision to persons experiencing homelessness. She had served as the Community Outreach Coordinator with AIDS Moncton for eight years; providing front line harm reduction services to some of Moncton’s most vulnerable people and has seen first-hand the effects homelessness can have on an individual’s mental and physical health as well as the adverse effects on the surrounding community. She’s also been involved with the Sex Work Action Group (SWAG) on issues around service provision for sex workers and has volunteered with YWCA Moncton and Mobile One Soup Kitchen.
Besides working in community, Roxanne loves going downtown for Sunday brunch, spending time with her partner and dog outdoors as well as listening to music.
“I’m excited to be working alongside a committee of dedicated organizations and individuals that are working to end chronic and episodic homelessness. My goals for the next year are to assist with the further development of our Housing Assessment and Review Team (HART) to ensure that anyone experiencing homelessness can easily connect with the best services for them. And to further develop our website resources to enhance community knowledge and/or involvement in current initiatives and approaches” said Rupps.
